Of angels and demons.

Jacob walked away one fine sunny morning. No explanations, no answers, no smile and no acknowledgment of her existence in his life! Sarah was left baffled and groping at the blank expanse her life had become without him. But in that tough lesson which life gave to her to learn, she exceeded expectations. She became excited about learning – learning about herself, learning about finding solace alone and most importantly, loving herself before any one else. Because until you don’t know how to love yourself, your lover will be as lost and confused as a chicken in a bull fight.

Today, basking in the glory of the sun and her beloved’s gaze, Sarah wondered how different her life would have been if Jacob hadn’t walked out that day. She silently thanked him for being a jerk. Because of him, she stopped looking for angels to come and fight her demons.

Graciously Yours!

P.S. : Izza, this is inspired by your #SeptemberPosts! She’s been writing abstracts so beautifully that I couldn’t help not writing like that. I give in. I hope you like this.

He hit her. She wailed, “Mommy!”

Graciously Yours!

P.S.: This isn’t a post on misogyny. Keep your innocence alive. Period.

Uncommon Us!

Here’s right back at ya, mate, for just being you ! (Your birthday’s too far away for a birthday dedication! And you just cracked your Chartered Accountancy exam today. So, I think the timing is just appropriate!)

I was lost, wanting to be found,

I was expecting help from someone profound.

In you strode, with your humour and brains,

Breaking all rules, and everything that bound me to chains.

For long you’ve been around, some way or the other,

You’d crop up in my talks, with my brother or mother.

There were rumours of us, which had us in splits,

Your antics with staplers and laptops had me laughing in fits!

Times passed and I thought we’d go our different way,

But that’s when we came closer, what do I say!

You’re adorable as the brother, the uncle, the friend,

Always with a smile, a helping hand, a clear head.

I was lost, wanting to be found,

I was expecting help from someone profound.

You stood by, watching me, with patience,

A misstep here and one there, and you’d drill in sense!

Graciously Yours!

P.S.: By the way, Deepak, you do realize you need to treat me after this, don’t you? My fellow bloggers will agree! Don’t you agree, folks?

In love!

My soul sister and me, were wondering the other day ~ Why are we happily single? Is it a phrase we simply use to conform to the world’s standards of the opposite of committed? Or is it something we say aloud to pacify ourselves that we really are happy looking at our friends getting lost in each others’ eyes? Does it have something to do with being afraid of commitment and the innumerable troubles about space and time and attention that ensues?

None satisfied our quench and hunger to know!

Until… We finally hit jackpot!

In love

We’re already in love. Not with one single person, but various parts of various people! And of late, it’s staring into my face so much, that I can’t avoid writing about it any more.

I’m in love.

I’m in love with the strength of the female who reminds herself each morning that her parents are as important as her boyfriend.

I’m in love with the endurance of the sister who manages to accept me just as I am!

I’m in love with the resilience of the friend who knows how difficult the path is, but keeps at it while people around her do nothing much to pull her up!

I’m in love with the care of the brother who stands by me through thick and thin, making sure my smile never fades. Yes, all you brothers.

I’m in love with the faith of the friend who bared his life’s biggest secrets to me.

I’m in love with the promise of hope my mentor exudes.

I’m in love with the positivity of this blogger who encouraged me to transform my works from that of a little girl to a young lady!

I’m in love with the love my friend has for his better half!

I’m in love with the ‘chemistry’ I share with a blogger, our thoughts meshing effortlessly each time.

I’m in love with the innocence of my friend’s baby niece! And also his love for her.

I’m in love with how understanding that friend is who never once complained about how my complaints bore him!

I’m in love with the humour of the friend who I’ve never seen without a smile to share!

I’m in love with the passion of that domestic help who  went on to join an NGO and is now learning English.

I’m in love with the intelligence of the friend who is as modest about it as one can be!

I’m in love with the inquisitiveness of the cabbie who wanted to know why my destination was named so and what was its historical significance.

I’m in love with the concern that crops up in the friend’s eyes each time my own are welling up.

I’m in love with the compassion of that shopkeeper who feeds those stray dogs and lets them warm themselves in her barely successful shop.

I’m in love with myself for being so much in love, for finding so much to love and for trying each day to love!

Each day I come across beauty, rawness, hope, love, strength, smiles.

Each day I also come across hatred, anger, greed, stealth, deception, frowns.

It is my choice which ones I choose to imbibe, cultivate, remember and fall in love with!

There isn’t lack of love. We just have to know where to look.

I know why I’m happily single. And now you do too.

Graciously Yours!

Picture

The violet orchids you held out for me,

Looked striking against the indigo dress I wore,

As your smiling blue eyes mesmerized me, making my heart race,

The ladies around stared, envious and green.

We drove back to your place, yellow lights shining against the night city sky,

I stirred in your arms, awakening to the orange hues of dawn,

Red trickling down from me.

Graciously Yours!

Life Notes #5.

A really tired me was rejuvenating today by looking out of the glass window of my office cabin, courtesy the only available cabin for auditors at my client office.

The visible main road houses the entrance to a pumping station where all day long huge tankers of the corporation come and collect water at the side of the road. The water from the 10 feet high pipe keeps pouring for a few minutes after the tanker drives away. One such tanker had just driven away and the water kept falling on the side of the road, when out of nowhere two street kids came along running and took place under the pipe.

Two kids, half naked, dancing under the water on a humid afternoon, for just a mere two minutes was such a blissful sight to watch! Another female, seemingly known to them came running with a can to fetch water and stood staring at them laughing all the while!

Not a care in the world, no botheration about the stares they might be getting (from someone like me), no one to reprimand them. Just moments of pure joy and elation.

As soon as the water stopped, they immediately ran away in another direction. I do now know whether this is a regular feature or a one-time attraction but what I do know is that I just spent two minutes smiling at kids whom I may never meet in my life but they have left a long lasting impact on me.

Though I couldn’t see their smiles, I could feel the happiness radiating to me.

Note To Self : Even if you don’t have it all, try and find happiness in what you do have. After all, life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.

Graciously (rejuvenated) Yours!

Completed — 100 happy days.

And that my friends is the end of my 100 happy days pledge!

Lots of memories, lots of struggles to find something happy in the day, hurried flashes of camera, getting out of bed half asleep after having forgotten to post the day’s happy picture, and penning some beautiful pieces on days like this and this! Oh and this too!

Pursuing this taught me a very important lesson – Even on the worst days, there’s a possibility of joy! Earlier, only Kate Beckett spoke it, now experience does too.

And I have not been alone in this 100 day journey! Without my family and friends to give me the much needed support, I wouldn’t have managed even a day!

Their lovely smiles, crazily optimistic spirits, penchant for unconditional love, a “Hi!” here, a “How are you?” there and sometimes just their being around was enough to make my day.

Dance like it is the last dance. Live like it is your last chance. After all, only cats get nine lives! A little craziness wouldn’t make you insane. Been there, done that! 😉 Unless, you think I am damaged beyond redemption, then you should steer away from the advice (AND THIS BLOG!) right away.

Technically, this may be the end of my 100 happy days, but I will carry forward this experience for the rest of forever.

Oops! I could continue typing away but this technically marks the end of my one hour break too and now it is time to get back to my live-in partner – my beloved books!

Psst – There have been days when I have skipped posting, but can we keep it to ourselves, please? A day or two can be forgiven and forgotten right? 😉

Psst again *very discreetly* – The other 99 days are posted on here!
