For you.

image

Yes, you. I am talking to you.

Yes, keep shunning that make up. You really don’t need to be perfecting your skin and eye lashes all the time. You love rubbing your eyes when you’re tired. There’s no compulsion to put on the kohl, if you don’t like it.

Yes, I am talking to you too.  You don’t have to be in line for the protein shakes, gym memberships and the energy drinks! Go for a run instead. Or that long walk with your friend. You don’t really want a girl who only falls for your brawn and not your brain, do you? So what if she doesn’t have the most beautiful face around. She will have  a beautiful soul, for sure. You believe that, don’t you?

Say what you have in your mind. People will call you bold, aggressive, bossy, too ahead of your times and innumerable other things! But keep voicing your opinions. They’re yours. And remember, if you choose to remain mum, there’ll be others who’ll label you as weak, shy, introvert, or worse still dumb. You don’t want that, do you?

You don’t like swooning over celebrities or watching and re-watching their films? Well, then don’t. You haven’t had a crush on any film or telly star? There’s nothing wrong with it. You don’t have to run with the crowd after them.

You want to sit at the lunch table with that shy female from work or that gawky guy at school because you don’t want them to feel any more lonely than they already are? Well, go for it. Make them smile. Ignore those whispers and looks.

You don’t want to back-b*tch  about your boss or your superior or teacher, do you? It’s alright to stand up for them! Don’t let the back-b*tchers make you think otherwise. You’re a far better person than the back b*tchers, at least.

You admire your friend for her courage, her determination, her optimism? It’s okay to tell her you are inspired. You may be a beacon for her in the world’s bleakness.

You are terribly real but that isn’t a terrible thing to be!

The pain will wither away. If you keep being real, you’ll soon find innumerable moments of happiness dragging you away from those instances of pain.

That pain is a part of your experiences. It has etched you, moulded you and refined you today.

Don’t hate the pain. Keep being yourself.

Yet don’t let the pain consume you. Let it go before it keeps you from being you.

Graciously Yours!

P.S.: I don’t know if you’ll ever come across this, but this is for you. You deserve so much of happiness. If only you would let the right things go…

IN LOVE… WITH LIFE.

I was in love with life.
Until...

All those small moments shared,

All those little secrets told,

All those great mysteries unfolded,

We were there for one other unrivalled.

Tagging along, always found by my side,

Today, when I turn, I see none beside.

A twinkle here, a smile there,

Would make my day, no matter where.

You were my solace, you were my charm,

You turned out to be the one who caused me harm.

Little did I know, how it would end,

You twirled my life around a hair-pin bend.

You decided to make things bad,

You decided to ignore me,

You thought you could turn the table around,

You thought you were the one who’d survive,

But I am the one who did.

I am glad you were there,

And I am sad you aren’t now.

But one thing is for sure,

I am in love… With life… Again!

Graciously Yours!

Courage does not come with age.

She sat quietly in the corner of the class. At the edge of the seat. She was staring at the blackboard in front of her, thoughts wandering elsewhere. The teacher was writing in white. Her classmates were copying. Her partner nudged her out of her reverie, beckoned her to scribble along.

Is there a God?

“Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.”

Thomas Jefferson.

Do you think there’s a God? If you do, like most of us, then :

Why does unwavering faith become blind faith? Why does hope become sticking to tarot cards and crystal balls? Why does our love for life turn into fear of death? Why do we believe more in stone idols and less in our very own souls? Why do we choose to hide behind religion to explain all the unexplained cultures of our society? Why do we instill fear in the name of God? Why?

Accord Him with the homage of reason; not of blindfolded fear.

Do you think there’s a God? If you don’t, then :

Who do you think created gravity?

Graciously Yours!

Till death do us part…

Exactly a year ago, not everything ended well for Reeva Steenkamp, girlfriend of famous Paralympic Oscar Pistorius, the Posh and Becks couple of South Africa.

She was found dead in the arms of her love. Oscar looked shattered. Their place was a mess, his clothes blood-soaked, the bathroom door broken, her body riddled with bullets, cricket bats and guns lying around. The world was divided. Still is. Some say it was premeditated. Some say it was accidental.

Twist of fate.

I say it was sad. Sad for Reeva, Oscar, their families, friends. Sad for the ones who had to closely witness something so heart-wrenching on a day of love. Sad for the innumerable people who lost their inspiration in Oscar that day. Which man in his right frame of mind would premeditate the murder of his girlfriend in a manner he knew would point back right at him? And a man with Oscar’s courage and mental strength, which got him game ready to compete against able-bodied athletes at the Olympics, definitely has the right frame of mind.

But I am not defending him. He has lost a lot. And so has Reeva.

He his love. She her life.

Maybe love for Oscar will never be the same again. This day definitely won’t.

Maybe he will learn to live with what happened that day. With what he did. With the life he took away.

Maybe Reeva will forgive him for what happened. Maybe already has. Maybe he knows. Maybe he’ll come to terms with it.

A lot of maybe’s, a lot of hope, a lot of strength, a lot of empathy.

For the way things ended. For them. Between them.

Not everything ends well…

Shine in silence.

Things might not always seem bright,
You might feel the end of the tunnel has no light,
But do not lose your faith upon Her,
She considers you strong, Mon cher.

Life will always give you highs and lows,
Our attitude decides who’s going to stay and who bows,
We have a long way to go,
And to the world we’ll show,

No matter how much the world puts us out,
We will always get up and go about.

Consider yourself lucky!

All her life, she waited for the one,
Not glancing even once, at the ones who paused for her,
Around her, there was so much of joy and cheer,
Yet, she didn’t care enough for the ones near.

Soon the crowds passed by her,
Soon she was left standing alone,
With none to ask her how she was,
She began wondering who she was.

While she waited for her one big moment,
She never noticed those small, little ones,
That fill up the pages of life,
And make you want to revisit the memory lanes.

While the tide turns away…

Wise enough to realize her folly,
She began the task of trudging uphill,
Warning every person who was going down,
To cherish what you get, rather than crying for what you want.

Consider yourself lucky that you’re still able to smile because there are many who’ve even lost that.

Life isn’t about the one big moment. It’s about the small, little moments which turn into your life story!

If only I could fly away!

I sat by the window,

Looking out at the sky,

The forlorn bird flying across

The expanse of blue

Touching the chords of my heart.

The small, brown wonder circled around,

And perched atop the neighboring window.

As it shushed and looked around,

It seemed to mirror my state of mind.

How I longed to fly away,

To soar higher than ever

But day upon day,

The burden increased,

Bogging me down forever.

Another sparrow came and sat near,

The two chirping away,

I glanced at my empty beside,

While the pair made its’ way.

Alas! For me there was no escape,

The chains never seemed to unbind,

And so I sat there looking at the blue expanse,

Forlorn, more than ever.

Trying to locate the silver lining,

More hopeful than ever.
